As mobile phone users, all we want is enough battery life to last the day. Frustratingly, the older the device, the less power it seems to have. In fact, the amount of battery life our mobiles have on any given day depends on two key factors: how we use them on that particular day, and how we used them in the past.
Many people using phone and other related devices always complain that their device batteries don’t last long due to one or more issue, then they start blaming the manufactures and the name of the product which is not the cause of the problem they are facing.
If you’ve had the same smartphone for over a year, the battery probably isn’t what it used to be.
Mobile phones use lithium-ion batteries for energy storage. In this type of battery, lithium metal and lithium ions move in and out of individual electrodes, causing them to physically expand and contract. Unfortunately, these processes are not completely reversible and the batteries lose their charge capacity and voltage as the number of charge and discharge cycles grows.
Here are the eight (8) things you are doing that makes your smartphone battery not to last long.
1.Using another phone charger to charge your phone.
Every phone is produced with a specific charger design for it. Using another charge that is not meant for your phone can endanger the life of your phone battery.
If you take a look at a phone charger you will see where is written the input and output current for example: input; 100-240v-50/60Hz 300mA and
Meaning that the amount of output that the charger can render is 5v, so when you take a charger that is above the input of 5v or that that is below it, it can damage the battery cell and make it not to lasting long.
That is why is advisable to use the charger that is meant for your phone while charging your phone.
2. Overcharging your phone:
Over charging smart phone has been a major cause of your battery not lasting.
The lithium ion in a phone tends to reach maximum when it is fully charged. Over charging it then will make it to become week.
The maximum time every phone should charge is between 2 to 3 hours to be fully charged.
The concept is that if you leave your phone on the charger for a while after it hits 100 percent, it will keep pumping in the current and that will reduce the capacity of the battery or even cause it to catch fire.
Charging phone overnight which is not good. Charging your phone overnight is not good, it constantly stress the phone battery when is fully charged.
The temperature of the phone also rises when is overcharged which can event result to explosion of the lithium in the cell.
3. Using phone while charging it:
Using phone while charging it has been a a culture especially Nigerian, using there phone while is charging. Not knowing the bad side of it. Using phone while charging is very bad you will even find out that the phone will charge to some certain point and start going down again.
When you are charging your phone and you are using it is the battery life you are using without you knowing.
That is why is not advisable to be using phone while you are charging it. Using phone while charging it especially using it to play game makes the battery life weak.
4. Waiting for your battery to be low before charging it:
To make your battery life last long you have to avoid waiting for the battery to be very low level before charging it. When you relate the battery of your phone to human being take for example somebody that is not well you won’t wait for the person to die before treating him or her.
The annoying thing is that you won’t even know you are damaging your battery because the effect is not immediate.
5. Charging phone in the wrong place:
Charging your phone in a wrong place can make the battery not to last long. Phones has temperature range they can function normally for example charging your phone in hot environment can raise the temperature and stress the battery out.
Also charging of phones in front of air conditioner can also damage phone battery which will affect the performance.
6. Using cheap charges:
You can’t compare cheap
charger with your original charger. Using cheap chargers to charge your smartphone is very bad not only that it will damage the battery it will also damage the phone.
No wonder why this charges are cheaper than the original ones. Because there are some features that is not in the charger. Some cheap charger’s don’t have safety mechanism against overcharging. Is better you are smart enough to stick to your original charger.
